New 4.2 Meter Rolling Stand at NLMK Dansteel

New rolling stand creates new opportunities

On 23 April 2013, NLMK DanSteel A/S officially started production of steel-plates on a brand-new rolling stand. 

The new rolling stand, supplied by SMS Siemag AG, Germany, can produce steel-plates in widths of up to 4 m and thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 200 mm.

The investment enables to meet the demand in in high growth areas such as the energy sector, offshore wind turbines, gas and oil platforms, special ships and bridges.

Compared to the old heavy-plate stand, purchased from the US in the 1960s, not only will the steel plates produced on the new stand be of a higher quality, they can also be larger and thicker.
